Non-contrast CMR reveals impaired oxygen extraction and energy efficiency in dilated cardiomyopathy

In 49 patients with dilated cardiomyopathy and 23 controls, a non-contrast CMR technique showed lower myocardial oxygen extraction fraction (50.3% vs 57.6%) and lower mechano-energetic efficiency (22.9% vs 46.0%), with higher total oxygen consumption. Efficiency correlated with LVEF and global longitudinal strain. Feasibility study.
