Chilean cardiovascular magnetic resonance has reached an international milestone. On 30 March 2026, the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) named Dr. Julián Vega Adauy, cardiologist and INCIC member, a Fellow of the SCMR (FSCMR), in recognition of a distinguished level of professional and scholarly achievement, integrity and competence.

To his knowledge, Dr. Vega is the first Chilean cardiac imaging specialist to receive this distinction, which in his view reflects the remarkable growth of cardiovascular magnetic resonance in Chile and Latin America in recent years.

Rather than a finish line, he sees the appointment as a commitment. “I remain fully committed to advancing high-quality CMR in Chile and across the region, helping propel the values and standards promoted by the SCMR through education, clinical excellence, innovation and broader access to advanced cardiac imaging,” he said.

For Dr. Vega, quality does not depend on equipment alone. “High-quality CMR is not just about technology; it is a mindset that directly impacts diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes,” he said, highlighting his work alongside the INCIC team, with whom he shares a mindset focused on precision and excellence in patient care.

The cardiologist thanked the mentors, colleagues, collaborators, technologists, trainees and friends who have been part of this journey.
