Re-iMAGINE Echo New York: INCIC presents a multimodality case at the international echocardiography series
On Sunday, 10 January 2021, Dr. Julián Vega Adauy, INCIC's academic director, presented live a case evaluated jointly by the INCIC team at the Re-iMAGINE Echo New York 2020-2021 virtual series.

At the height of the pandemic, when the major cardiac imaging meetings moved online, a case studied by the team at the Chilean Institute of Cardiac Imaging (INCIC) reached one of that season’s international echocardiography education series. On Sunday, 10 January 2021, Dr. Julián Vega Adauy, INCIC’s academic director, presented it live at Re-iMAGINE Echo New York.
Re-iMAGINE Echo New York was a virtual continuing medical education series organized by Mount Sinai, Piedmont Heart’s Marcus Heart Valve Center and the New York and Georgia chapters of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). It ran on 19 days between 10 October 2020 and 13 February 2021, with CME credit designated by the Georgia Chapter of the ACC. Its directors, among them Drs. Jagat Narula and Mani Vannan, framed it as peer teaching: cases, images and a global conversation rather than an accumulation of data.
That Sunday’s session, “Echo Yoga: Finding Imaging Zen”, was devoted entirely to clinical cases, with 15-minute presentations followed by discussion among the speakers. Invited by Dr. Vannan, Dr. Vega brought an unpublished case, evaluated jointly by the INCIC team, that combined echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance, biopsy and surgical images.
The case reflects how INCIC works: complex studies are discussed as a team and solved by combining imaging techniques, to reach a precise diagnosis and guide clinical decisions.
