For one week in November 2023, Barcelona was the meeting point of Spanish-language cardiac imaging. The Cardiology Department of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital held the XLIII Course and I Meeting on Echocardiography, Cardiac Doppler and Multimodality Cardiac Imaging from November 13 to 16, followed by the XXXV Cardiac Imaging Update Meeting on November 17 and 18. Its faculty included Dr. Julián Vega Adauy, INCIC cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist, invited by Dr. José F. Rodríguez Palomares of the Vall d’Hebron Cardiac Imaging Unit.

For Dr. Vega Adauy, it is the largest Spanish-language cardiac imaging course in the world. He describes it as comprehensive training that covers every cardiac imaging technique and combines lectures with hands-on workshops, something he believes has no equivalent in Spanish. The two back-to-back events fill an entire week. According to the organizers, the 2023 edition brought together about 230 people, students and speakers, with more than 160 registered students.

Within that program, Dr. Vega Adauy gave two talks: “Right ventricular function cases” and “Aortic valve disease”.

“It was an honor and a great pleasure to be there and to see such a massive turnout,” says the cardiologist, who calls the week in Barcelona an incredible experience.

The invitation reflects INCIC’s place in Spanish-language cardiac imaging: a group dedicated to advanced cardiovascular imaging that shares its experience at the specialty’s leading training venues.

Dobutamine stress echocardiography: Doppler and color at baseline, low dose, peak dose and recovery.
Cardiac MR with 4D flow: intracardiac flow in four planes.
