Chile's first hands-on cardiac MR workshop with dedicated software: radiologists and cardiologists work through real cases at their own workstation
Led by INCIC's Dr. Jesús Urbina and Dr. Julián Vega, the theory-and-practice workshop at the 2025 Chilean Congress of Radiology took cardiac MR from the lecture hall to the console, endorsed by SCMR and NASCI.

Every attendee at their own screen, cardiac MR studies open in dedicated analysis software, and the cases projected on large monitors at the front of the room. That was the Hands-on Cardiac MR workshop, the first practical cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) workshop in Chile using dedicated analysis software, held on 9 October 2025 at the Metropolitan Center in Santiago as part of the 2025 Chilean Congress of Radiology (CChR 2025).
The theory-and-practice workshop, with limited places, was directed by Dr. Jesús Urbina, with Dr. Julián Vega Adauy as co-director, both INCIC specialists. Over a full day, from 8:30 to 18:30, radiologists, cardiologists and fellows worked through a three-part programme: fundamentals, clinical cases and hands-on practice with Circle Cardiovascular Imaging software.
The aim was to combine the experience of CMR specialists with real clinical scenarios. Instead of watching how a study is analysed, each participant did it themselves at their own workstation, guided by the instructors.
The workshop was endorsed by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) and the North American Society for Cardiovascular Imaging (NASCI), and sponsored by GE HealthCare.
For Dr. Vega, moving CMR forward in the country is a collective effort. As he put it in his post after the event: “Steering #WhyCMR forward is an all-hands-on-deck job.”
